Adams Nearly Hits For The Cycle In Leading Monroe City To A Win Over South Shelby

Madisyn Adams came up a double short of hitting for the cycle in leading Monroe City to a 9-5 home victory over South Shelby on Thursday night. The freshman staked the Panthers to a first inning lead:

Brad Boyer with the call on nemopressbox.com. Adams was 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored in being named our Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game.

A sacrifice fly by Bradi Keller made it 4-0 after two. After squandering a bases loaded, no-out opportunity in the second, Bella Cook provided some excitement for Ladybird fans in the third:

Kinley Fuemmeler provided an answer in the Monroe City third with a two-run single. Both teams had single tallies in the 5th and South Shelby pulled to within two in the sixth on three straight singles, with Cook getting her second RBI. The Panthers got two insurance runs in the bottom of the 6th. Adams scored the final run when she hit her 6th triple of the season and scored on a hit by Skylar Mulvaney.

Monroe City improves to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in the CCC. The Panthers will host Centralia on Monday. South Shelby drops their conference opener and falls to 1-9. The Ladybirds will entertain Macon on Monday. You can hear the broadcast by going to the Game Archive section of our website.
