The Cairo Ladycats totaled 13 hits and scored in all but two innings in an 8-1 win at Salisbury Thursday.
Chloe Brumley led off the game with a single and scored on an Avery Brumley groundout. A leadoff single by Kylee Dodge in the second led to her being driven in on an Addison Bailey single. Olivia Cross had the big AB in the third.
Brynn Bachtel scored the lone run for Salisbury in the fourth on a wild pitch but Cairo instantly got it back in the top of the fifth. Mallori Hankins hit the Ladycats’ fourth leadoff single and later scored on a groundout by Bailey. Cairo did further damage in the sixth with RBI doubles by Hankins and Cross as well as an RBI single by Avery Brumley. All three of those hits came with two outs.
Cross complemented her 2-for-4, 3 RBI night at the plate by getting the complete game win in the circle. She surrendered one run, four hits, four walks and struck out five to be named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Oustanding Player of the Game.
Cairo moves to 11-2 while Salisbury falls to 8-3.
