Cairo needed comeback efforts in its last two postseason games but didn’t need it Saturday. The Lady Cats advanced to their second straight Show Me Showdown with a dominant 62-34 win over Princeton.
Cairo was nearly perfect to start.
The Lady Cats led 19-5 after one quarter and 36-19 at halftime. A 7-3 run to start the third quarter to get within 11 is as close as Princeton got in the second half. Cairo scored eight straight immediately following that run.
Mallori Hankins and Avery Brumley paced the Lady Cats with 16 points each. Hankins was named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game. Olivia Cross produced 15. Princeton got a game-high 18 from Addy Henke.
Cairo will next play Rock Port at Mizzou Arena Friday night at 8. Rock Port defeated Santa Fe in double overtime 75-69.
