Centralia’s Ethan Ross unofficially ran the ball 17 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ 28-14 win over previously unbeaten South Shelby. Ross opened the scoring with a six-yard run in the first quarter, and added a 56-yard score late in the second. The Cardinals fought back in the second half with Chase Moellering touchdown passes of 29 yards to Tucker Elliott and 20 to Preston Elsen. Up 22-14 with less than three minutes left in the game, Ross put the game out of reach.
The Panthers defense intercepted Moellering three times on the night. Centralia is now 5-2, 4-1 in the Clarence Cannon Conference, and hosts Palmyra next week with a chance to win at least a share of the conference title. South Shelby is 6-1, 3-1 in the Clarence Cannon, and visits Macon next.
