Edwards, Jones Deal in South Callaway Win over Harrisburg

South Callaway’s Ethan Edwards and Tucker Jones combined to hold Harrisburg to three hits in a 9-1 Central State 8 win Tuesday.

Edwards tossed the first four innings and fanned seven, which included striking out the side in order in both the second and fourth. Jones delivered an efficient final three innings and surrendered just one walk.

Harrisburg’s lone run came after Jayson Eskew led off the game with a walk, advanced to second on a passed ball, third on a sac bunt and scored on an Ike DeMuth groundout.

South Callaway responded with three runs in the second. Graden Pontius bunted and reached on an error to load the bases with nobody out. Hudson Jones put the hosts on top.

South Callaway (4-6, 2-1 CS8) added two in the third, three in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Pontius had a two-run single and Hudson Jones an RBI single in the fifth. Kolton Adrian went 3-for-3 with a sac fly. Ethan Edwards was 3-for-4 with a double. He was named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game.

Ike DeMuth, Hunter Caldwell and Chase Gray all contributed on the mound for Harrisburg (3-4, 1-2 CS8).
