Fayette took advantage of 12 walks and a couple costly errors in an 11-7 win over Westran in the quarterfinals of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament.
The Lady Falcons drew three of those walks in a two-run first inning. Westran tied the game in the second with RBI singles by Jaycie Colley and Kylee Hayes then grabbed a lead with an RBI double by Charley Starr in the third.
In the top of the fourth, Fayette drew back-to-back bases loaded walks before Brooklyn Wies poured on.
Fayette scored five runs in that inning and added two runs off an error in the sixth. Westran made it interesting in the bottom half.
Lady Falcon pitcher Skylar Sunderland provided an instant answer.
Sunderland finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and 3 RBI to be named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Oustanding Player of the Game. Fayette, at 15-9, next plays top seed and defending state champion Carrollton. Westran’s season ends at 12-15.
