Hallsville Teams Hang On For Sweep of Moberly

Both Hallsville teams prevented Moberly comeback attempts to win by three in a sweep Wednesday night.

The boys game was a much different game than the Centralia Tournament finals when Hallsville beat the Spartans by 33 points. A late Moberly three-point attempt was short and the Indians held on for a 53-50 win. Hallsville led by as many as 10 in the third quarter and by as many as seven twice in the fourth quarter. The Spartans scored six in a row to close to within one in the final minute….

Mason Bivens led all scorers with 21 points. The Spartans drop to 7-4 and will play at Harrisburg on Saturday.

The Hallsville girls won 41-38. It was a tightly contested first quarter.

The Lady Indians broke the fourth tie of the opening frame with 10 seconds left in it.

The Lady Spartans stayed within four for much of the second quarter but never regained the advantage, then Hallsville pushed its lead to as high as 13 in the third quarter.

Moberly rallied back to get within one point in the fourth but never completed the comeback despite numerous chances. The Lady Spartans fall to 2-8 and were led by Zoey Hannam’s 12 points. 3-7 Hallsville got 13 from Haley Martin and 10 by Kaylee McCubbin.
