Jace Kent had a big night and 6th ranked Kirksville took advantage of two blocked punts to defeat Moberly 28-7 at Dr. Larry K. Noel-Spartan Stadium Friday night. The majority of the first half was played on the Tigers half of the field, but Moberly couldn’t score. Kirksville’s first blocked punt set the Tigers up at the Moberly 41. Kent scored on a four-yard run late in the first half to make the score 7-0 at intermission.
Kent capped a 72-yard drive to open the second half:
Then came the next punt block that set the Tigers up at the Moberly 11 yard line. Ryder Lyons found Kent out of the backfield for a six-yard touchdown to increase their lead to 21-0. The Spartans tried to get back in the game midway through the fourth quarter:
The onsides kick went out of bounds. Lyons capped the scoring in the final half minute with a one-yard quarterback sneak. Jace Kent was our Freeman Financial and Insurance Player of the Game. Along with his three touchdowns, he rushed for 152 yards on 28 carries. The Tigers defense has yet to give up double digit scoring in their 4-0 start. Kirksville will visit Marshall next week.
Moberly drops to 0-4. The Spartans will visit Fulton next Friday.
