Both MACC teams won Friday night at the annual Thanksgiving Classic at Fitzsimmons-John Arena.
The 20th ranked Greyhound men trailed for much of the first 30 minutes before taking a 76-69 victory over Southwestern Illinois. The Hounds took the lead for good at 64-63, on a conventional three-point play by Jayden Banks, followed by a pair of three-point shots:
Brad Boyer with the call on nemopressbox.com. Lavonta Ivery led all scorers with 26 points. Banks and Josh Lowe added 14 apiece. Moberly improves to 8-1 with their second win of the season over SWIC. The Blue Storm drop to 4-3. The Greyhounds will play Highland, Illinois, Saturday at 7:00.
The MACC women used a 20-to-2 second quarter to pull away from Sauk Valley for a 79-36 win. Abygail Thivierge had her best game of the season with six three-pointers and 22 points. The Greyhound women get back to the .500 mark at 5-5 and will play Wabash Valley on Saturday at 5:00. We will broadcast both games on nemopressbox.com.
