Macon Beats Putnam County 3-1 on Senior Night

The Macon Tigers held on for a 3-1 win over Putnam County on Macon’s Senior Night Tuesday. It was a pitcher’s duel early, with the third-ranked Midgets’ Sawyer Morgan and the Tiger’s Preston Burns each holding their opponent to one hit each through the first four innings. Putnam County’s Mason Morris broke the deadlock with runners at the corners and one out in the fifth.

Following a hit batter and an Emerson Young pinch-hit double, Kennon Isaacson provided the eventual game-winning RBI.

For the sacrifice fly, Isaacson was named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game. Young would score an insurance run on a double steal. Hogan Ritter retired the side in order in the seventh to get the save.

Macon had now won eight straight, and at 14-5 visits Canton next Tuesday. Putnam County’s five-game winning streak is over. The Midgets fall to 20-4, and host Kirksville Thursday.
