Hallsville led Moberly 7-1 after four innings and used an eight-run top of the fifth to help seal a 15-1 run rule victory Wednesday.
Moberly starter Mia Faught struck out two of the first three batters she faced before giving up a single and a walk. Hallsville’s Ellie Schisler took advantage.
The Lady Indians plated four more runs in the second. Moberly freshman Brynn Goins took over in the circle in the third and tossed two scoreless frames before the big fifth. That inning included another key hit for Schisler.
Schisler was named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game. Hallsville starter Brianne Wildenhain threw four innings and gave up one run and four hits, didn’t allow a walk and struck out five. Haley Martin struck out one in pitching a 1-2-3 fifth. Offensively, both pitchers, Schisler, Madi Carmichael and Delaney Crocker had two hits.
Moberly’s lone run came in the fourth. Faught walked, Kyia Tydings doubled and Hannah Ramsey drove in Faught with a sac fly. The Lady Spartans fall to 5-6. Hallsville improves to 9-1.
