North Callaway pulled away from South in the second half to take home the Callaway Cup with a 34-14 victory.
Both teams had lengthy first quarter drives that were eventually stopped on 4th down. Fittingly, the first score of the game came on the defensive side.
Ethan Munford scored the touchdown. North Callaway’s response came shortly thereafter.
The teams went to half tied 6-6. NEMO Pressbox Star Jaiden Galbreath broke through for three second half touchdowns to help the Thunderbirds pull away. Munford added a 48 yard touchdown run for South.
The new three-headed monster in North Callaway’s backfield had a very balanced effort. Unofficially, Galbreath had 11 carries for 79 yards, Collin Moore had 10 carries for 79 yards and Kellen Long had 10 carries for 75 yards. Long also had four receptions for 85 yards to be named the Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game.
