North Shelby Wins Back-and-Forth Affair Over Paris

North Shelby moved to 5-0 on the season with a back-and-forth 34-26 win over Paris Friday.

Both defenses shined for most of the first quarter before North Shelby broke through in the final minute.

Paris punched back on the first play of its next drive when Luke Ensor found Chase Kendrick.

The Coyotes took their first lead at 14-8 with 4:08 left in the first half on a 29-yard passing touchdown from Ensor to Logan Mitchell. North Shelby got a three-yard touchdown run by Gannon Bowen and converted the two-point try for a 16-14 lead with 47 seconds left in the half.

The Raiders then recovered a fumble and advanced the ball to the Paris 2. The Coyote defensive front stood tall, though, to keep the score where it was at the break.

Paris went back ahead early in the third.

A big swing came on Paris’ next offensive drive. After the defense forced North Shelby to punt away, the Coyotes committed a holding penalty in their own endzone, resulting in a safety. North Shelby added to it on the ensuing drive.

Bacon ran in the two-point conversion for a 26-20 lead. Paris knotted things again on a clutch play early in the fourth.

The definitive score came with 6:02 to play when Bowen, from three yards out, ran in his third touchdown.

Gannon Bowen unofficially had 30 carries for 202 yards and three touchdowns, four receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown while also completing 3-of-7 passes for 49 yards. He was named Freeman Financial and Insurance Outstanding Player of the Game.

Luke Ensor for Paris completed 19-of-33 passes for 271 yards and four TDs.
