The Rockhurst men pulled away late in a 90-77 win over Truman in the GLVC opener for both teams Tuesday.
Truman went on a 9-0 run late in the first half and it was tied at 38 at the break. The Bulldogs tried to create distance around the midway point of the second half.
That four-point lead proved to be Truman’s largest of the night in a game that saw 11 ties and nine lead changes. Landon Eiland provided an answer when Rockhurst seized momentum.
Eiland had another game-tying three the following possession. Rockhurst pulled away at the end with an 18-5 run.
Jesse White led all scorers with 27 points for Rockhurst while Brian Hawthorne had 20. For the Bulldogs, Matt Haefner, Xavier Hall and Eiland scored 19, 16 and 14 respectively. Truman went 29-for-31 from the free throw line but shot just 38 percent from the field and allowed nine offensive rebounds.
The Bulldogs travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota this weekend to play Augustana Friday and Minnesota State Saturday.
