Leading just 14-6 at halftime, the South Callaway Bulldogs used a 25-point third quarter to pull away with a 45-6 win over the Fayette Falcons Friday night.
On the game’s opening drive, South Callaway stopped Fayette three times from the one yard line before Carter Vroman ultimately scored on fourth and goal. The Bulldogs’ response didn’t come until midway through the second quarter.
That touchdown pass was caught by Colten Crocker. Graden Pontius extended the Bulldog lead with a 62-yard touchdown run with 2:26 left in the half. Pontius struck again early in the second half.
South Callaway then recovered an onside kick and instantly turned it into a 44-yard touchdown run by Kolton Adrian. Pontius added touchdown runs of two yards and six yards in the third quarter, but he wasn’t done.
Unofficially, Pontius had 13 carries for 250 yards and five touchdowns. He also completed 4-of-7 passes for 39 yards and a score. Adrian had 77 yards on four carries. Micah Estes led Fayette’s offense with 12 rushes for 53 yards and three receptions for 19 yards.
South Callaway’s fifth straight win moves them to 5-2, 3-0 in Central State 8 play, while Fayette falls to 1-6, 1-2 in conference.
