Langdon Pindell pitched a complete-game and the Sturgeon offense came alive in the late innings for a 6-1 victory at New Franklin on Tuesday. It was the fifth straight victory for the visiting Bulldogs, who snapped an 11-game losing streak to New Franklin going back to the fall season of 2019.
The host Bulldogs were on the verge of going on top in the bottom of the 5th when the momentum swung on an outfield assist by Sturgeon’s Carson Gehrig…..
Brad Boyer with the call on NEMOPressbox.com. Sturgeon took the energy of the play into the top of the 6th as Alex Graham and Sam Truesdell hit back-to-back doubles….
Truesdell scored on a base hit by Dayton Marshall. Graham and Truesdell once again hit back-to-back doubles in a three-run 7th for Sturgeon.
That was more than enough for Pindell, who was our Freeman Financial and Insurance Player of the Game. He gave up just one run on seven hits, with seven strikeouts and no walks. Sturgeon improves to 5-2 and 2-0 in the CAC ahead of a home game with state-ranked Atlanta on Thursday.
Lane Hackman pitched six innings and was charged with four runs on five hits, with nine K’s and three walks. New Franklin drops to 4-3 and 1-2 in the conference ahead of a matchup at Cairo on Thursday that we will broadcast on NEMOPressbox.com.
