With a sweep of Schuyler County Tuesday, the Westran girls earned their first conference championship since 2008 while the boys capped off a perfect conference slate to win the title outright.
The Lady Hornets were off from the jump in a 54-16 victory.
Those threes came in the first 40 seconds of the game. Kharigan Fuemmeler finished with 10 points. Emma Wortmann had a game-high 16 while fellow senior Kylee Hayes ended with eight.
Westran shares the conference crown with at least Salisbury. Paris can make it a three-way share with a win over Knox County Friday.
The boys created distance in the second quarter and kept the advantage in the second half to win 64-56.
The Hornets led 20-17 after the first with Cruze Haynes providing the brunt of the offense.
Westran doubled up Schuyler in the second quarter to lead 34-24 at halftime and built the lead as high as 15 in the third. That’s when the Rams started finding a rhythm.
Three points is the closest Schuyler got. Marshall Kitchen made the most of his senior night by scoring nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.
Haynes concluded with 17 points. Treydence Chapman added 10. Mason Windy put in a game-high 18 for Schuyler. Brody Weaver and Cohan Meade scored 14 and 10 respectively.
